Hospital Bag-Essentials

Getting ready for the big day, my delivery day. What should I take with me in my hospital bag to be ready for my stay in the hospital and the arrival of my baby?

Please check out the list below:

MOM

  1. Slippers
  2. Comfortable after delivery wear (preferably red or black) as you just delivered.
  3. Nursing bra or tank (if you plan to breastfeed)
  4. Nipple cream (your nipples will appreciate it, trust me)
  5. Adult diapers or extra large pads (if delivery is vaginal)
  6. Towel (you do not want to use the one on the hospitals)
  7. Postpartum panties (a couple)
  8. Postpartum recovery belt (not if you are having a C-Section)
  9. Toiletries including toothbrush and toothpaste
  10. Contacts and/or glasses (if you wear them)
  11. Cell phone charger and camera
  12. Optional: speaker and music (I had no time for it)

BABY

  1. Car seat (already installed)
  2. Two complete baby outfits including socks (different size and weather appropriate)
  3. A couple of newborn or size 1 diapers (will get some in the hospital while there).
  4. Ready to use bottle (just in case you need it, it needs to be sterilized already)

DAD

  1. Toiletries with toothbrush and toothpaste
  2. Additional clothes
  3. Snacks (a lot for the stay, some hospitals feed mom not dad)
  4. Reusable water bottle
  5. Towel
  6. Blanket and pillow (hospital's’ sofa is not comfortable)

Note if you ask, I will be happy to give details.

There were several things I took with me but that I never used for my first pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to always take only the essentials and do not carry extras. The list above is what I consider essentials. I hope this helps! My bag is already done, just waiting for the due date.
