Hospital Bag-Essentials
Posted by Okay Mujer on
Getting ready for the big day, my delivery day. What should I take with me in my hospital bag to be ready for my stay in the hospital and the arrival of my baby?
Please check out the list below:
MOM
- Slippers
- Comfortable after delivery wear (preferably red or black) as you just delivered.
- Nursing bra or tank (if you plan to breastfeed)
- Nipple cream (your nipples will appreciate it, trust me)
- Adult diapers or extra large pads (if delivery is vaginal)
- Towel (you do not want to use the one on the hospitals)
- Postpartum panties (a couple)
- Postpartum recovery belt (not if you are having a C-Section)
- Toiletries including toothbrush and toothpaste
- Contacts and/or glasses (if you wear them)
- Cell phone charger and camera
- Optional: speaker and music (I had no time for it)
BABY
- Car seat (already installed)
- Two complete baby outfits including socks (different size and weather appropriate)
- A couple of newborn or size 1 diapers (will get some in the hospital while there).
- Ready to use bottle (just in case you need it, it needs to be sterilized already)
DAD
- Toiletries with toothbrush and toothpaste
- Additional clothes
- Snacks (a lot for the stay, some hospitals feed mom not dad)
- Reusable water bottle
- Towel
- Blanket and pillow (hospital's’ sofa is not comfortable)
Note if you ask, I will be happy to give details.
There were several things I took with me but that I never used for my first pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to always take only the essentials and do not carry extras. The list above is what I consider essentials. I hope this helps! My bag is already done, just waiting for the due date.
